This study shows that patients who have lower blood values of B6 (one of the B vitamins; named pyridoxine) and of iron are more likely to have had anxiety and panic attacks or hyperventilation. (Low serum concentrations of vitamin B6 and iron are related to panic attack and hyperventilation attack.)
Part of the reason that these two nutrients are related to panic is that B6 and iron are necessary ingredients for the body to make serotonin. Low levels of serotonin can play a role in panic attacks.
Help your body make enough serotonin by having enough B6 and iron.
B6 also helps metabolize protein and is involved in maintaining a healthy immune system. Deficiency in B6 can also result in depression, vomiting, seizures, weakness and peripheral neuropathy.
The “active” form of B6 is Pyridoxal 5-phosphate (P5P) which is the form to consider if you have any trouble methylating.
